IT infrastructure virtualisation, alongside IT consultancy, is at the core of what we do here at Shesh Tech. While something of a relatively new technological offering in the modern age, it has quickly become a dominant force for businesses needing IT support around the world. We’ve explained more on this concept, and its benefits, below.
What is IT infrastructure virtualisation?
IT infrastructure virtualisation, which you may also see being referred to as Infrastructure as a Service (IaaS), has rapidly replaced physical IT infrastructures. It is where a business infrastructure that is software-based is being hosted on another physical infrastructure elsewhere.
One example is Microsoft’s Office365 service. This is software that you can download onto your own IT systems, which is hosted on Microsoft’s physical servers. The software must still be hosted somewhere, but it removes the need for you to have your own physical servers at your location. The services are instead hosted “in the cloud”.
What are its benefits?
Given the above information, there are some immediate benefits that you may quickly draw. One of the big benefits of using cloud services is that data recovery is much easier.
Furthermore, not having to be constrained by physical servers and hardware, your overhead costs are dramatically reduced due to needing less equipment. This, in turn, means that you can enjoy smaller office space, or perhaps not need an office at all; further reducing your costs.
Not needing to be confined to one location means that you can operate your business from anywhere, while your IT infrastructure is physically hosted from elsewhere. Better still, you can remotely monitor and manage your systems wherever you go.
Alongside the above benefits, you also won’t be restricted by server capacity. While the business that you choose to host your IT infrastructure with may have their own capacities, these are typically much higher than an individual business can enjoy. Rather than having to wait for new physical servers to be delivered to you to increase your capacity, which could take weeks, you can quickly utilise the greater capacities of your external IT systems provider.
Using an IT infrastructure virtualisation service will also offer you additional benefits in two extremely important areas; security and efficiency. With IT experts monitoring your systems at all times, and with services such as a managed antivirus solution, you’ll have heightened protection at all times.
And, with services such as IT audits and healthchecks, the IT experts can constantly check your systems, ensuring that they remain as efficient and productive as possible. These experts can also greatly help with your data recovery too, should any disasters strike.
